Rehi everyone,
It is finally time for Froggie to rejoin the battle for the top of the heap. I have got everything up and running. Issue is that my Abit KT7/RAID system is now refusing to run client .99 ( it was before my return to the US) I have deleted the directory, reinstalled the software, and everything else I can think of. It is running on the other machines listed below. Suggestions?
System 1:
Soyo Dragon, AMD Tbird @ 1.466GHz w/Volcano II HSF, 1.5GB PC2400 Crucial DDR RAM, 2 x 30GB IBM Deskstar in RAID 0, Hercules GeForce3, onboard 5.1 audio, NIC
System 2:
Abit KT7/RAID, AMD Tbird @ 1.3GHz w/Swiftech 462A HSF, 768MB PC133 Crucial RAM, 2 x 30GB IBM Deskstar in RAID 0, Voodoo5 5500, TBS Santa Cruz, D-Link NIC
System 3:
Asus CUSL/2-c, Intel Pentium III @ 948MHz, GlobalWin FOP38, 384MB PC150 Kingmax RAM, 1 x 60GB Maxtor, Hercules Prophet 4500, Hercules Game Theater XP, D-Link NIC
System 4:
Dell XPS-R400, Celeron II @ 850MHz, 768MB PC133 Crucial RAM, Maxtor 10GB, Diamond 770 TNT2 Ultra/Voodoo2 12MB, TBS Montego, D-Link NIC
System 5:
Sony Vaio, Intel Pentium 600, 128MB RAM, 12GB HD, LinkSys Wireless NIC
System 6:
Toshiba Libretto CT70, Pentium 200MMX, 32MB RAM, 4GB HD, LinkSys Wireless NIC
System 7:
H-P Vectra, Pentium 100, 32MB RAM, 4GB HD, D-Link Wireless NIC

what exactly do you mean by "refuses to run"?

I start the client (W98SE on that particular machine), it downloads the gene, does all that rotamer stuff, then it starts with the % stuff, it dies with a GPF usually on the first gene at about 50%.
Sorry, not much else to tell. I am stumped.

Could be a bad gene. Have you run it with the -clear? Then it will get a new gene on restart.

Greets Froggie! Good to see you're back. Do you mean the client will sort of freeze, looking like it's working but it isn't? If that's the case and the machine is overclocked, you'll have to back it down a bit.... That's what happened on my BX6 c633@952 2.05v .... i was pushing the poor thing just a little too far.... :D ... and then the caps started to swell....
If you mean the client won't even start then it's time for an o/s re-install....

Glad to see you back and setteled in.
Have you tried copying over the whole client dir, from a working machine with a known good gene?
If it still crashes.....
something's not right

Nevertheless, I do not believe that is the problem this time. The processor is very stable up to 1.466GHz and I am only running it at 1.3GHz. With the Swiftech 462A it only gets to 29 at idle and about 44 at full load.
Nope, it is something else that I am missing. I can't find anything in the registry. Shucks! Need this machine! Need MORE POWER.
BTW, just found a Iwill KA-266/RAID for $70. Just so happenes I have an extra 1.4GHz Tbird and three sticks of DDR lying around. Built in sound means I just need a hard drive, case and p/s to add another machine. Woo hoo!

Hi Pelligrini,
I didn't think you could copy over another gene because it would be a duplicate submission. I will try that.

It would create a duplicate, but if the test works, you could delete the origional and do another install in it's place.

Don't submit them both.
Just run it far enough to prove whether it depends on the gene or on the hardware.
. . . or . . .
Switch the directories between two machines.

i would try it at stock speed anyway, just so you can rule overclocking out. it could also just be the fsb speed, not the overall cpu speed, i.e., try lowering the fsb and increasing the multiplier.
i would try the -clear command first though.

OKies. Sorted. Got about 14 hours in today with all machines online. I am fourteenth in production:( Oh well.
I will look at production after the weekend. I guess I can make it into the top ten again but that will be about it. I can not compete with the megaproducers at the top anymore with just a home LAN.
Looks like we will top out in third spot. The number one and two are out producing us by a bunch.
