OK, this has nothing to do with world politics..

It has nothing to do with religion...

It has nothing to do with terorism, or recent events..

As I near the 20 year mark in my Air Guard career I have decided to retire in November ( provided I still can..). The unit that I'm in stepped up to a plan to let everyone fly in the backseat of an F-16 at least once before they go off to the cilvilian world.
In the morning I will be strapped into an F-16 for my ride....

I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight...9g's here I come...

For those that are thinking gee, why get out now? Several reasons, my area is being downsized to move positions into other areas, I'm not in a position that is likely to go anywhere, and 20yrs was my goal.. I do admit I'm a bit torn now if I should really be getting out now. Wish me luck and I'll try to post a pic of me and the pilot next to the A/C tomorrow.

Up..Up..and Away!

I'm not thinking that but I'm thinking how can I do that, Flying in a F16:D
More fun than the rollercoasters I've been in in Disneyland Paris those really S*cks:D :D
I'm not joining the Army or Air forces, does that also count for flying in a F16:D :p

Now serious, hope you have a great time flying:D  (keep a paper bag near you  )

Ha Ha...they give you TWO "barf" bags (plastic)...with little twisty ties. I know of one guy who "filled" his bag and then put it back in his flight suit...later in the flight the "g" suit inflated and popped the bag in his pants....lol..

My plan....skip supper tonight..and have toast and one cup of coffee in the morning ..:D

Viperdog, in as much as i envy you for the life that you get to lead i know you will bow down to the up and coming personnel with a pride and confidence fitting their abilities and future potential. As a proud follower of the combat aircraft industry without the chance of ever getting to fly such a beast(i was so thrilled to finally see a stealth fighter(with machine gun protection) at our local air show in Shearwater years ago), i salute you and all others who endevour to protect north american and democratic interests throughout the planet. We all need to step aside eventually, making way for the next generation(as i am finding out at work), i still don't think they're doing it the right way!! Patience, they say... Heh, come to think of it, i actually touched (*blush*) an f-18... WOW, only in canada, you say? What a beautiful aircraft... no doubt the last time that'll ever happen.... Too bad really...*sigh*... all i have left is simulators, and those will soon be changed for ever... crap!
Sorry for going long, but we/i do appreciate the effort/support our big brother has shown us over countless years. A special thanks to all service men and women who have pledged to keep the democratic way of life a priority above all else, nomatter what the challenge or cost. Many thanks! You da man!! WOOT!! I'm proud of you. Enjoy your retirement, you deserve it.

Now that I'm at a base that has REAL planes on it, I may have a chance to get a ride in an F-15. All I have to do is win NCO of the year. ;) And talk about barf bags, I'd prolaby fill 5 of 'em, but it'd be worth everyone of them! Ralph one up for me Viper!

Words just fail me....WOW..

What a ride I had today. The weather was rolling in so we didn't get to do the Big loop from 8K ft to 20K ft but it was great anyway!..
09:06am end of taxi way asking tower for permission to take the runway.
09:07am end of runway..
09:08am cleared to takeoff..boom afterburner..wam into the seat..100knots..150knots...wheels up..250 knots..300knots..end of runway..3 g pull up (ground just drops away)..

09:09am 12 thousand ft heading for 16K....

Was in the air for a little over an hour...turns..rolls..pulled 8.1 g in one turn...WOW.. didn't get sick, didn't gray out or black out...cool!

Went down to a low level route...500+ knots at 760 ft ..he he wakeing up all the cows sleeping in the barn lots..

Got to actually fly the plane around..throttle up..jink right jink left..cut the power throw out the speed break...450knots to 250 knots..wam bam...afterburner...go go go!..

Radar track..target vector....missle lock....

All I can say is no video game will ever be the same...this rocked man! All I can think about is I want to go again!!...

We didn't get to "buzz the Tower"... :( (although that had been the plan), bird alert..so no low level passes over the airport..don't want to damage the A/C we may need them later.. :D

I have a copy of the Heads up display tape with our voices.. the pic was supposed to be in my email when I got home but I think the other photo guy at the base sent it to the wrong address or something..I'll post it later..
If you ever..and I mean ever.. get this kind of a chance take it!..

Once in a life time and something I will always remember.:D :D :D
