So tell us the gist of it.......
the way I read it its yet another idea the govt took to absolute extremes and hit pure overkill/stuffup mode (along with GST, contractors legislation, and the Ready Reserve scheme)

And add to that: Policing the net, Email & Newsgroups.....

All I can say is this: if your caught hacking, malicous or not, your gone for 10 years m8. In fact they have already sent someone away I beleive.

I wonder if this includes running DC clients on employers machines without their consent.......

That contractors legislation is a joke. Were I am currently dispensing my services, they have just been auited by State Revinue. They have ruled that people like myself, (sub-contractors), payed by the hour @ consultant rates, with no holiday pay or benifits (and rightly so, as it's business invoicing business) are ACTUALLY employees. They are now due payroll tax for some 30 people, going back 5 years.......... Geez, I hope that does not mean I'm going to be visited next, by the ATO....

What makes me laugh is this, I know someone who works in a high level state office (gov) and 50% of the people there are subies, and the govt does not pay payroll tax I beleive....

I hear you....its worse...there are so many Us & Them rules its criminal. The Tax Office actually issues sunscreen and hats to its field officers (thereby implying its necessary for their occupation) but denies a deduction for hats/sunscreen for road workers.

Be careful or you'll be caught up in this latest bulls*&# too.

Still...an election coming up soon and then everyone will get a better government which listens to its people.

/soap box

I am a proffessional wylie, no hacking for me. Heck, I still aint running the client on the UNIX farm, it just doesn't sit well enough for me to even ask....

[grunmblecomplainbitch MODE ON]

I'm more worried about by business.... Shi*, every time you just get a little ahead in this country, the pollies go and squeeze harder..... It seams the public servents may be wiser than us "real worlders" after all....

hell no I wasnt implying you would do anything untoward....
My grumble is with the way this damn country is going, and this seems yet another example of legislators not quite putting proper safety precautions in....there will be loopholes in this which will no doubt cause some poor guy to be prosecuted for running icq or something stupid like that....
Also have you noticed that since John Howard got in the Farmers have had a nasty drought???:p
