Well it looks like Gateway is completely dropping AMD from their lineup. This leaves only HP and Comapq still buying frm AMD. Since they are merging into one company, it looks like this might hurt AMD a little.

Also read they are laying off 2.3K and closing two factories in Texas.

The article said that only Compaq and HP are left. Mircon might be selling off their stock. Not sure though.

makes sense, discontinue the superior, less expensive product. :rolleyes:

of course they have to cater to the masses who think "duh, this intel has more of those gigathingies so it must be faster".

AMD better get going with an ad campagn to educate people a little.

Their ad campaign consists of making up numbers to only confuse the uneducated consumer. I think rougher times are ahead for the SUPERIOR chip maker.

Me thinks not, I'm somewhat pissed about this PR system. Intel's ghz system is totally bogus, what they are doing is saying the PR rating is the actual speed.......... ARGH! hard to explain... AMD needs to get their marketing dudes arses movin' and a PR system ain't the way to do it
