I am thinking about doing a dual boot, Windows 2000 and Linux. But I don't really know anything about Linux. I would like to dual boot because I can start to learn about it which will hopefully help me a lot in the future (being only young).
What I would most like to know is how easy it is to setup Linux with no prior knowledge. Thanks.

Rizzo, I am a newbie when it comes to Linux as well. Based on Dnar's posts at the OLD BB I went and found a copy of Mandrake (most user friendly install, by some accounts), the on the whole the install went very smooth. Although I think Dnar would probably recommend Red Hat 7.2
If you have older hardware (at least 6 months old) the installation should be able to recognize your hardware. I am having a couple of issues with some of my hardware, but Dnar and Rick_deadly have been helping me with them.
I'd say give it a go... The price is right for trying it out! :D

Installation really is a breeze with Mandrake. But most likely you'll be like my buddy & I who just loaded it up. It went fine, we have two boxen running Linux, we sat back and said "Now what the hell do we do with it?" I play too many games to give up my windows box, as much as I'd love to. So for me, Linux is a neat experiment on one of my extra boxen, but nothing more than that.

Definately Mandrake and RedHat are the easiest installs. If you can get your hands on one of those you should be set. But if you get stuck, leave a note... dnar is the expert, but I am learning fast, and will offer any help I can.
My Linux experience is mostly command line stuff.
vi is your friend.
Have fun!

I agree guys, Mandrake is very good for newbies, BUT! Mandrake 8.0 has a few issues (all point zero releases of anything do!).
Mandrake 7.2 is real good. RedHat 7.1 is real good. RedHat 7.2 will be even better if you can wait.....
Peanut Linux is good also from all accounts.
