You'll have to learn "C" :D
The bridge is still under construction. What gauges have I missed???? I know Tril will want the following:
- Water-pressure-o-meter
- Pump-pressure-o-meter
- Bite-tounge-o-meter
- wallet-o-meter
:D

I guess ;) You may require a "byte" of French to do well....
How long since youv'e coded in Fortran??? Man that brings back memories, 4Mhz Z80, twin 8" foppies, 64k RAM, serial console, and Microsoft Fortran.
My favourite languages just don't get used anymore  Turbo Pascal and Delphi. Delphi is GREAT, it's just the POS operating system that sucks.
Borland have released Kylix (Delphi for Linux) and unlike ALL other Linux software, it costs an arm and a leg. I would take me a year of coding to pay the thing off!!!!! I just can;t see me getting big bucks for Products deveoped for Linux either, everyone is used to getting it for free or SFA.
Tinkering with Glade and C at the moment (The Genome Collective Dashboard) and that took around 30 minutes to put together. Not bad.
My real strength is native assembler - Intel x86 orl x51 cores.
My daily crust is earned as a UNIX programmer, using a language called "MicroSCADA" - a Finish product of ABB. It runs on SCO UNIX, a real time, multitasking, multiuser, control and data aquisition language. Real cool, interperative, powerfull and FAST!!! We use it to automate power stations, process plants etc.
Have a look here (http://www.abb.com/global/abbzh/abbzh251.nsf!OpenDatabase&db=/global/SEAPR/SEAPR035.NSF&v=B&e=us&m=V&c=73CD201CBC793BEBC2256981004D4FFB)

we will get a hug everytime your booted :D

I had to write in Fortran for my thesis work; I had to use a mathematical library for the finite elements that was available only for this language, so I had to learn it well and fast :p !
BTW, Great and powerful language when it come to math operations....
GeeK!

Do you think I remeber much of the instructions.... No! I still have a 1970's manual here somewhere, I would love to have a flick through, just for a laugh!
Ever played with FORTH? It's really good for multi-threaded embedded applications. I think I may leave "C" alone for a bit, I have found something that has re-sparked my enthousiasm - Python.

I don't remember any bit of my proggie!!! I had to rebuild the finite element library for the Linux platform (originally it was distributed for the SUN OS)... That was my first serious programming task on linux...
I have all the original floppies in my drawer..... Maybe when I've installed Linux on my home PC I'll pull them out again ;)
GeeK!
