Okey dokey... theres this song called In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida written and sang by iron Butterfly. We are not allowed to play this song in public in band, but we can play it in the band room or behind the buses etc. I have listened to it several times and i can't find a vulgar word or anything about god in there (band director won't exactly say why we can't play it)

I babelfished it and got "In-a-Gadda- gives life"
hrm........ i don't even think "in a gadda" is a word in spanish, or close to any words in spanish

After a lengthy and rather fun discussion at lunch (today was rather drab) someone though up that if the guy was really drunk "In the garden of Eden" could be "In A Gadda Da Vida"

But then it wouldn't make much sense, but it might... the song deosn't make much sense anyway. Bryant, myself and Derrick though that it couldn't be In the garden of eden, cuz ya shouldn't beleive what ya see on telivision childrens (right after that, the TV turns on and goes to channel 1 - its on a timer)

In the garden of Eden shouldn't cause any probs with anybody, the song deosn't have anything bad even if those were the words.

Just sitting here trying to remember the few words in the song I can't figure what would be wrong with it. It was popular during the Vietnam era, summer of love and all that stuff. Sounds to me like someone just doesn't like it. The title means nothing in particular, found this http://www.ironbutterfly.com/int.htm

Might be something in his mis-spent youth causing flash-backs. Everytime I hear it I get some pretty vivid memories myself.:D

I'm begining to think thats it. HE gets all frowny and stuff, nd tells us we just can't play it in public, like it would cause him pain or to cry or somethin' . :( I think he lets us play it behind the buses cuz hes not there when we first get there..... Oh boy... I really wish i knew for sure...

From what I understand, it was supposed to be "In the Garden of Eden" , but the chemicals in Doug Ingle's body hindered his enunciation. (he was too fsked-up to talk) :D
I doubt it was just alcohol either.

They probably won’t let you play it in public because it’s 17 minutes long.
I’ve got the album, the track makes up the whole second side of the record.

The composition we play is only about 2 minutes long (i think), average lenth for the songs we play

I bet your teacher dropped acid and listened to that song, so if you played it again he might have a flash back!

I wonder if you got him in a room with a strobe light, and played the Floyd track with the chopper sounds, if he would trip-out???

Hrmmmmm...we shall find out what happens.....

I made this here CD with the songs we played, but they are played and sung by the actual artitists..... Sooooo Hang on Sloopy by the McCoys is ont here, the Power of Love by Huey lewis etc...

Well i kinda left In-a-gadda-da-vida on there..... i was gonna take it off, but i forgot.....

I showed him my copy and i know he had to have seen it cuz he read off all the songs and said he'd like a copy, without "ding fries are done" .... I don't think hes connecting how you spell it with how ya say it or something....

Hrm... he doesn't seem agertated at me...... he seemed disgruntled today, but that may have been cuz we had 20 of the 58 peeps in band today, there was a massive field trippage and skippage (most liekly just an excused absence) today.

Heh, that reminded me of "The Simpsons" episode where Bart dupes the church into singing the hymn called "In the Garden of Eden", written by I. Ron Butterfly.

Watching the old lady belt that out on the church organ and passing out at the end was a classic.
