My printer (Epson Stylus Colour 740)of 3 years just died so I am looking at buying a new one (obviously). Any recommendations on brand as I mainly use it for document printing with a little bit of picture printing on primarily A4 Paper. Considering going to laser from bubblejet so any help would be appreciated.

I'd go laser for lots of docs (difficult to beat the quality/cost pp with inkjets) and an Epsom for Pics.

I saw a Panasonic Laser printer going for about 250.00 -- think it was a outpost.com

I would not recommend the Panasonic lasers. I have always been a HP man, but then again I keep hearing horror support stories.

The HP 4050 is real nice :D

FWIW I have a HP Laserjet 6L, they don't even make them anymore, and I can't get it to die. I've dropped it at least twice (accidentally ofcourse) and it still prints great.

We only use HP 6L's at work and they go on forever. What an awesome printer.

I have personally yet to see a HP printer problem, but check out some of the NG;s..... Maybe it's Epson FUDsters.....

1 x HP 5P here.
2 x HP IIIP at work (yep 8 years, 2 thousand trees and still going)
1 x HP 4050 at work control centre (12PPM, LAN, 8MB RAM, H/Disk, 500 sheet feed, yeh baby baby)

I have an HP OfficeJet R40. It's one of those that scans/copies/prints. Never had any problems.

I also have an old IBM 4019 laser printer I use for documents. Never had any problems.

You can check to see how many pages your HP's have printed. We have several 4M's at work that have topped 100k pages...

I've worked on many laserjets and have to say the HP owns the market on these. I've had 2 Epson inkjets and the picture quality has been remarkable, but each printer only lasted a year before failing. I think I'm heading for HP the next time, but Canon is getting some good write ups.

I use "Guys" for male and female. Its become pretty androgenous recently and I reckon a good term for both
