WaaaHoo A whole wooping 1.75 work units given for a 18aa gene. Oh well a gene is a gene.... and it only took like 15 min to finish it.

I have just downloaded a 8aa specimen

and cause i was bored put my stop watch on it [ sad]

Came out at 13mins and 27 secs :D

so i am nonneting it all day to wack up some genes to see what it gives me

I s there anything wrong in doing this?

Hi Chas,
No but from what I have read on this and other BB you get a better WU return from doing the BIG ones

PS I’ve got a 21 that’s being going round for 2.5 days all OK.

Well then they HAVE changed the weighing system. That 18aa sould have been work 5.4

I've had a 12 and a 21 aa in the past few days. You don't get many wu from them but it sure is fun to rack up the gene total. I ran the 21 for 2 days and the 12 is still in one machine. I also have a 16 in one of the beater laptop TDK sent me. I think it is going to take a day+ for it to finish LOL (its a p75).

Hummmm, is there anywhere U can find out wot each Genome will give U in WU’s? – As a 18aa = 5.4 wot about a 99aa etc – if not;

[bright idea] why done we run some tests (or has it been done) [/bright idea]

PS Medic or anyone can we collate the info somewhere??

I received on of the 8aa's today and it was done before I knew it. Just wish the big ones would go that fast. Before that I think the smallest I ever got was in the 50aa region. Yeah it might boost up your gene count but it will hurt you more in the long run to be running all of the smaller ones since you get less work out of them.

It use to be based on 100aa. So if you had 38aa you would do .38 x 30 seq. = work units. But that has all changed now.

They changed it due to mass complaints made with regards to -nonet. I got really messy on the boards. Flames everywhere you couldn't see your 'puter for the smoke

i thought a 99 was worth about 115 units? thats what i saw posted a while back? Damn, Im running a 99, 85 and 98 and i was hoping to upload them tommarow and gain 300+ units :( damnit

i actully wrote down what i had before i uploaded 2x18's ..i had 3962.25 then after i uploaded i had 3965.85. that works out to 3.6 new units divided that by two for 1.8. that chart shows 1.7... what that mean?

siggy

It is not an exact science. I think they round a little too.

Last nite got a new wu and set mine on no-net for the night and today. Got back and had 17 finished. Had a 12. Kind of a shock when I went to bed it was part way thru a 98. Unimatrix_Zero is going to have a little boost in genes just not much in units. :p

I had a 1.7Ghz P4 machine snag a chached 13aa gene last night at work. I go in to upload this morning and there were 29 of the little bas-turds done. Someone turned off a 1ghz box, and my 1.7 P4 crashed towards the end of an 88aa. Not a good night.

The machine completed one and a half more while they were uploading. ;)

Well, my 1.5 bird has completed 4x 98aa in a day and a half. I was hoping to do a 1000 WU upload and nonet untill then. If a 98aa is worth 29 WU, then I'll need 35 of em to get the 1k upload. That means 8 in 3 days or 32 in 9 days. In reality, about 10 - 12 days crunching - :( I was hoping for a little sooner!

stanford should have a setting somewhere that lets people with like x-300mhz do the smaller ones, 300-600 larger ones, and 600+ big ones....... but then you would get those guys on 1.7ghz p4@2.2ghz that run a 8aa nonet for a week and blow out 1000 genes lol. that actully would be pretty cool ;)
