It looks like the wonderful people at [H] mentioned that ARS could join the desperate TGC when their site shuts down. Come on people, mortgages aren't important and you can certainly ride a bike to work:D

Well that just says it all.

Shows what they know.

Methinks [H] dosen't realize that we're desperate to keep people interested in the project. Perhaps they don't understand that this project affects ALL of us. Sure, stats are nice, but they're just the tip of the iceberg! :p

Nothing against [H] but some people will just never get it. Some people just want to jump around from project to project and make big news when they do it. Stats weighing changes so they cmplain and do something else. If that's what you want to do, it's a free world. Do it and have fun with it. When will people realize this wasn't about making it to number 1. Although if it happens, that's great. Look at what we accomplished and look at all the new friendships that have been created. That's what this was about. From what I've seen it won't ever get through to people as I always see them saying stupid stuff like this. But hey, no biggie to me. I'm happy where I am just like they are happy where they are. In the end we all win!

I couldn't help myself virus, I had to post a response. I just hate to see folks "dissin" others they don't know, just out of spite. Anyway, watch out for the flames - sorry folks ;)

Damn tril,

He did have a biggrin tacked on to the end :)

I'd hate to be the person who really "disses" you ;)

Yeah, maybe it was more of a reaction to some of the stuff I've been reading and a little heavy handed to direct it all at that guy.

Thing is, I've had a taste of what this project should be about over the last few weeks, and it makes me kind of angry, when ppl reduce it to this sort of thing. I'm not being high and mighty, just there is more in life to get pissed about, than the time it takes to crunch a 23aa WU.

I've read all the threads...

Some people just don't get it. Genome is a lot more than "just" stats. This project means a hell of a lot more to me then the brute force cracking of obsolete encryption codes (RC5). I thought it did to most of the people.

First and foremost, I run Genome for the potential benefits to mankind. A lot of relatives on my fathers side of the family have died at a young age due to cancer. Without going into detail, this is the main reason I crunch.

The stats are supposed to be the fun part of Genome. This is what keeps people interested and motivated. Without the stats, I would not see people out crunching me and want to upgrade.

Lastly, I would be very saddened to see Ars or H quit Genome. This might help a team get to a higher ranking, but it doesn't help the project at all.

These teams are not for me, but make no mistake... They have a huge contribution to the project as a whole. To anybody reading this, if you’re happy about any team dying, you shouldn’t be running Genome.

It took me 20 reloads to finally get to the forum and read everything, but dude......that reply was straight from the heart and as eloquint as can be.

I think it sums everything up nicely!

Thanks Michael, it does read better "now", I'm guilty of another example of "revisionist history" as pelligrini puts it - damn it if he isn't the most diplomatc bloke I've ever met. You know when you get the bad guy, pop up on your shoulder saying "go on tril, stick it to em" and then pelligrini's voice of wisdom pops up on the other and says "think about it tril, is this fair?".

The original post was quite a bit more caustic, I edited it before anyone read it - knee jerk reaction, needed to be a little more diplomatic.

;)
