How many of you guys run a mixture of Linux "and" Winhose on your systems? And what versions do you run on them?
I got RH 7.2 finally, but I want to know what I will find missing from the old way of life...

I have two machines running WinXP, one running RH 7.2, and the rest are all running FreeBSD 4.4 or 4.5....

win2k and 98 on two home systems

redhat 7.2/win4lin (win98) at work. it works extremely well for those times when you have to run a windows app, and when you dont you just shut windows down.

I _used_ to run a dual boot config with Win2k and RH7
I found though I wasnt rebooting in loonix enough so I then installed Vmware and was running loonix as a VM for a while.
Then it dawned on me that everything I was doing in loonix I was able to do just as well in winbloze so I scraped loonix all together.

I might one day find a need for loonix again on my system but until then I am now back to running a single boot WinXP system

My main system is running Dual Boot XP/RH 7.2 off two diff drives. The other computers are running XP and 98SE.

I have messed with Linux and got it running alright though XP is still my primary os. I will go mess with Linux once in a while when I am in the mood.

I had Linux RH7.1 but I need to build a computer for my sister and that one was the slowest one I had so Linux went Bye, Bye.

So now once again you have to pay rent in the Linux forum because you no longer have a Linux machine.. Hmm.. And how long were you planning on hiding this fact??

As long as possible. But the landlord is not around. I just sent the rent in the mail. No worries.

i took the opposite approach and since anything we need to do can be done under linux, windows is used solely for one app....its set up such that starting windows is effectively the same as starting the required app (an accounting package).

when the software maker gets around to doing linux versions it will hopefully be a seamless transition....until then this works extremely well.

I should have been more specific.
As my primary source of income is in teaching others how to use and program within a winbloze operating system I have the need to have full winbloze compatability. I could go the win4lin/wine/vmware etc approach and run Loonux primarily then vm out to winbloze, however as I need to be primarily in winbloze I cant se the point in vming to winbloze just to be able to say "I run loonix" (I personally dont feel a need to say that anymore as I have been a user of linux in some form or another since RH3 days and the novelty ofa gnu licensed OS has come and gone)

In my case winbloze offers far more than loonix does. IF I had a network of any sort at home or required server applications such as httpd, smtp, pop, imap, telnetd etc etc then I would run loonix, but as I dont there is nothing loonix offers me over winbloze other than. I always have and always will stand by the comment that loonix is far superier in a server environment than winbloze is.

I wonder if we should start a "I use loonix/winbloze because the other OS can't do it thread".. I do love them so :)

Smoking is bad peeps!

Makatiel

Smoking is good for you... Without smoking I honestly think I would have killed someone by now. It is a crutch when you get irritated.

"Damnit.. I'll be back.. I am going to burn one before I kill someone"

Siggy..

Wylie and I live 2 doors down from each other. We also live in a very quite loop with hardly any traffic at all. Sometimes if we are chatting on ICQ or on a BB we decide "Heck why not talk face to face" so we meet mid way and have a ciggy and a chat.

Just for everyones info, Wylie is also the Godfather to my son :)
And all I can say is he is the best godfather a boy could ask for.

we also argue like hell as you may have noticed....;)
quick disclaimer - I dont ordinarily smoke.....I did for about ten years, then gave up...I am fortunate now that I can have one or two occassionally and not want one again for ages!

took years to get to that level but......

anyway.......now that we've hijacked this thread completely, what were we talking about again??? :D
