View Full Version : Switched 'em all over!

I just switched every single machine at the home over to DF, with the exception of half of my dual AMD. I'll see if these clients survive the night. Some of these systems only have 32mb of ram per CPU. I had a few errors getting some of them started.

There sure as hell better not be any updates in the next few days. :banghead: :banghead:

Goodbye #3 spot. ;)

It'll probably be another 8-10 hours before those Pros start uploading. I wanted to see what the fish farm could really do. Besides there are a few people in the overall stats that I want to smoke. ;)

I doubt I'll keep everything on DF for very long though. I still want my 5th spot back and to make it to 500k in Genome. It'll take a bunch of cycles to keep 5th once I get it back.

Winky and I have been hired by dinny over at ACME Cardboard (real cool job) and I'm in charge of Quality Control of Corrugation-Pro (tm) :p.
Pell I must say, you are doing some mighty fine folding, some of the finest folding I've seen in years. Keep it up.

Ever heard of nonetting:D ya never know. Actually, I have several pc's at work down and I'll try to get them back on line, but they are very unpredictable or shall I say the people I work with are very predictable. When the wife pops they'll be down for 3 weeks.

Quality control hear again  Got to give a shout out to FlybyKnight, now there is some precision folding going on there. Look at them numbers  Nice solid numbers. Lbaker has good quality numbers too . pell, virus, the last update you guys are lacking in good quality like LB and FbK. How do you have 10001 Virus and pell 205002? I take back the A+ I was going to give and just give you two an A. FbK and LB gets the A+.:p

It’s not the quantity, its quality baby:cool:

dialup sucks. I spend 3+ hours dumping when I get home. That's 3 hours that my 5 pc's sit idle. Come on comcast, hurry up!

Oh, you had better check the stats again after the dump:D

There's no reason for them to be idle. Just start another instance and let it crank away while you're uploading. ;) I have 2 instances running on my faster machines all the time. I was noticing some cycles not being used.

doh, just got 2 more 400mhz boxes. A friend of mine put them in front of the firewall at his work and gave me the ip to vnc into them! A couple of 1.4's were promised as well.

First, let me state I know NOTHING about the folding client.

With G@H, it's not too difficult to run a task to upload concurrently with a task to crunch. Surely there's a way to spend that 3 hours both uploading and crunching.

There's probably several ways to do it, but if nothing else works, run the client like you have a dual and let two tasks compete for the same CPU. Upload will take 1% and the other 99% can crunch.

if you only have 1% uploading, on dial up no less, I guess you would need a dedicated phone line. I would think that it would tie it up even longer the 3 hours.

He means only 1% of the cpu resources are needed for the upload process. It doesn't take much power from the cpu to send the results back. :)

Right. You can keep your phone line fully loaded with the cpu spending nearly all of its time loafing :D (or doing something else more interesting.)
