I got POed at G@H today and decided to give F@H a shot. Its running on my win2k box using the text only client. G@H is also running.

When does this thign start doing something? Right now its sitting there with a bunch of stuff on the screen, and finally some copyright stuff. The win2k task manager says G@h is using 99% of the cpu and F@H is using 0% . F@H has a default of normal priority and G@h has low priority (idle). Did I do soemthing wrong here, because it sure as heck isn't doing a darned thing.

MECH why did you get PO'd at G@H?

I dunno... just felt mad at em again.

Seems that me dump done around 9 am hasn't showed up yet. Stats in mech's puter room haven't updated since 6 am today. Maybe it's my internet. It better be there tomorrow :D

I'm not ditching G@H, I just wanted to see what these other clients were like.

I assume this "DF" thing is not F@H. I'm not doing 3 different clients.

Mmmm.. DF is different.

*MechCD goes off and cries in his locked room*

I also noticed that the updates are really slow. When I did the 4/1 dump it took 7 hours to show up :(

That's normal siggs, it usually takes 2 updates to show... :baa:

You'll know when it's running. It'll have little proteins shooting all over the screen, along with a countdown.

I be not running the perdy graphics :/

I closed G@H for a few minutes and it started doing something. I don't think it shares CPU time very well. I fired up Half-Life and it quit, so it's either all the CPU or nothing :D Maybe it's a win2k issue. If i can find a process monitor for Win98, i'll try it on my dad's puter

Hmmm I've had no problems running running DF and Q3A togeather on my Win98 machine.

Yesterday I was running DF, Autocad2000, Photoshop, Omnipage Pro, IE and OE all at once without any problems either.

mmm this be F@H and not DF...... Unless F@H2 is called DF :/

I'm confused

I like WINTOP (http://www.idg.net/new_docids/seemingly/manager/windows/wintop/window/smoke/periodically/activities/new_docid_0-70816.html). Not too fancy, but works.

Mech,
DF is Distributed Folding
F@H is Folding @Home
F@H2 is Folding @Home 2

Three separate projects.

I hope this clears it up for you.

DF has the same CPU sharing problem. I'll be posting over in the software forum :baa:
