How would I share files from my linux box? I can ping everyone from the linux box, but no one can ping the penguin by its name :).

from /etc/hosts

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.0.2 penguin.a penguin
192.168.0.4 amdjr.a amdjr
192.168.0.3 crunchin.a crunchin
192.168.0.6 genome.a genome500

end of file

I can ping everyone on every puter with the numbers, but only the penguin can ping everyone by name. the rest can't do only a "ping penguin"

Don't ask me - I never could get samba to work right, but I've since given up trying. See the other netwoking thread started by me earlier, has much of the same questions & answers in it... HTH
