Why I don't know but I lost 7 days of work from DF
It seems my filelist was removed/is missing but why/how/what I don't know but maybe it was because of a crash (power failure in the neightbourhood) but not sure.
Cant make heads or tail out of the data I've got so cant make new filelist by hand so after trying a few things I gave up.
one positive thing; I could update to the new client
I lost around 600.000/800.000 results  but they'll can be replaced.
Damn....I feel your pain :hugz: :hugz: (in a manly sort of way)

Thanks phil
I was looking at the filelists of the new clients and it seems it only updates it when program is being closed (not sure yet but I'll keep an eye on it).
If so, maybe after a crash it isn't updated and you'll lose the not noted units !!!
That would explain something (system runs smoothly without restarts only restarted after power failure=crash)
Hope I'm wrong but i'm checking it.

That's a downside I noticed about the client, I am currently having heaps of problems on my main rig, BSOD, random lock up, etc, so I hosed my Win2k setup , reformat the partition and installed WinXP, guess what? no BSOD, but random reboots whenever I am doing more then one thing at the same time... kind of a problem for me, cuz I usally listen to Mp3, burn movies, browse several websites, crunch, run photoshop, type a doc or two in word, ect etc...
I need a new puter that all !

First test supports my thoughts but because it was not a big amount of units i'll let it run for a while (5000 units + little bit) and let system crash again to see if it really isn't writing info to filelist.txt, even not after a complete set of units is done.

I let the client run until it had a bit more then 5000 units done, normally it would upload its file but because I no-net it doesn't.
It didn't wrote a filelist.txt file and after the crash everything was lost(but now I had a backup and I could manualy make a filelist.txt file so not realy lost :))
but that explained my loss so now I will post a message on the DF forum on a way how to get a automatic backup procedure from the client it self or if they could include one in the client.
hope you peeps know what I said here ;) :D

I checked later again and now it does update the filelist.txt file  so that probebly wasn't my prob, I'm
I'll see if something else comes up but I'm lost for now :(
Wait, this Filelist file existed when I started the client but I started with a clean client without a filelist file maybe thats the point
need more testing :D

Nofinger I had a similiar situation, remember my computer kept restarting? I could not get it to complete a sequence before restart so I switched to DF cause I was told it updates all the time, well I was only updating if it completed the 5000 or if I was using the "Q" otherwise they were lost.

Sorry Siggy I missed this post :(
But the client updates wich was meant where the updates wich are made to the client and this can be done automaticly by making a autoupdate file( see here) (http://www.thegenomecollective.com/forum/showthread.php?postid=46239#post46239) but it saves its results only after pressing Q or after each 5000 units.
and before that, they are lost :( thats right maybe later they can be recovert.

Update on my little problem with the filelist file.
posted by Brian the Fist on DF forum:
I have verified that when run with the -if option, the client does NOT write out the filelist.txt every 5000 or whatever. This was a BUG and has been fixed. A corrected version will be posted in a week or when we switch proteins next (check the News on the web site for this). If you simply MUST have the updated EXE right now, simply e-mail us at trades@mshri.on.ca and we can send you a copy (specify OS).
filelist.txt does get written out if you do not use -if, whether or not you are online at the time.
