Hi!

I haven't really been around much lately, and that is Red Hat's fault! I put it on my "other" machine, and have been playing around with it. Mandrake was a lot easier, and I could feel it calling, telling me to leave that b@$tard Red Hat alone...

I guess I am looking for a decent book to help with learning Red Hat 7.3. There are tons, but I was wondering if there were any recomendations from the experts that I trust. I had played with Mandrake 8.1 when it came out, and that was fnu to play with, until the IBM drive it was on went kaflooey.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!
BB

Linux, the complete reference (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/007222505X/qid=1031564714/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/002-8045575-0258408?v=glance&s=books) is a book that I'd buy. I have some of their other books and the format is good. I also like the Unleashed series by SAMS but they only have a copy for RH7.2 - Red Hat Linux 7.2 Unleashed (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/067232282X/qid%3D1031564861/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/002-8045575-0258408)

Great, I am going to swing by Borders tomorrow evening. I think my main problem was that I ran out of beer while playing with Red Hat. I was way too sober, and could think straight. I am really good with directions, once I figure out what they are talking about. ;) So I will get some beer, and the book, and this weekend I'll go nuts.

Is there a DVD playing program for Linux? I would like to use this computer for websurfing and dvd playback in the den. (Wireless keyboard + mouse)

Xine (http://xine.sourceforge.net/) gives probably the best DVD playback for a software player (including Windows players. You may have to scout about for the DVD codecs though.
