I was just wondering what is going on with this project? Is there a stats page? Are we running it?

The stats are the same. I haven't tried the client, but I think bruce and a few others have. V.99 works fine for me.

So basically you have no control over it's a folding packet or genome unless you specify?

The way I understand it, when you put in a Genome team number you will get Genome units, a Folding team number will get folding units, no team number will get you either type.

There are two sets of stats - - the same two that existed before the updated client. You can be on a FAH team or you can be on a GAH team. If you're on a GAH team, you're supposed to only get GAH WUs, though if both GAH servers fail, they will send you a FAH WU. If you're on a FAH team, you can specify a preference for FAH or for GAH or NoPref and all will count towards your FAH team.

There are 3 analysis methods and the proteins to go with them. Besides the SPA that runs Genome work and Tinker that has traditionally run Folding work, there is a new method, Gromacs, that does a somewhat different type of folding work. Gromacs has some very hignly optimized code which uses the SSE or 3DNow instruction sets which really speeds up the work. If your machine doesn't support those instruction sets, it reverts to a more traditional code but still performs the analysis.

If you need to get through a Port80 proxy, you've got a good reason to switch. If you need to nonet you've got a good reason NOT to switch. For the rest of us, there's not much difference running GAH V0.99 and running FAH3/GAH2 with a GAH team number.

Not quite true. The first two are correct.

All folding teams numbers are less that 100000. All genome teams are greater than or equal to 100000. There are two "no team" team numbers. Team 0 will get you folding units. Team 100000 will get you genome units.

I've run the new client with the TGC GAH team number 2136075668 and I've gotten GAH WUs. I've run the client with the TGC FAH team number 131 and gotten FAH WUs. I haven't seen the "either type" option really work the way I would expect it to - - but I didn't try very hard. They may be limiting the crossover WUs as they're still working out some limitations on the new GAH analysis core.

I think it should be noted that even if you put in a GAH team number, your stats wont appear on the GAH Classic stats. They still get credited to the team, but in only in the FAH stats system, and as of right now work done for Genome teams in FAH3 just sits there (stats wise), there isnt listings for the Genome teams or anything.

Sorry, but you're wrong.

Well, I have credit for quite a number of def1 proteins and I know I didn't process them with the classic client. I seem to get 6.25 points for this 30AA protein which is almost double the standard rate, so I can't complain.

I've run the FAH3 client under a Genome team name and the stats didnt show up in the classic system. It also said somewhere (though I dont remember where) that the stats wouldnt be combined.

Genome team name? It's the number that counts.
http://gah.stanford.edu/teams/The_Genome_Collective.html is the stats for team # 2136075668
http://folding.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/teampage.detailed?q=131 is the stats for team # 131

They're not combined - - and, as you can see, virtually all of us are using the former. Your stats are going to the latter.

Oops, wrong word. Yeah I used a Genome team number and I used the same name that I used when I first Genomed a year ago, and the stats didnt get counted to the name. I finally figured out they were in the FAH stats system.

Hmmm, interesting. Stefan may need to have a look at that as GAH3 should be sending stats results into the classic system

GAH2 does send stats to the classic system (actually, to either stats system).
FAH3, when folding, does not - - only to the FAH stats system.

If you specify a GAH team number, and the servers which send out GAH work happen to both be down, the Assignment Server sends you a FAH WU rather than leave you hanging. Those stats are effectively "lost" because they go into the FAH stats system with a GAH team number. I've got a few like that.
