Is there a way to change the color of the members online if they are in the chat room? Just a thought. Is it possible to have colors inside the chat too? So I can tell when different people are talking?
::whining mode off::
Thanks for listening.

I understand what you mean Siggy, and these are things that I am looking at for the future chat room.

Hi Phil, the feature siggy mentions is available with phpmychat, though I'm not sure it's worth the effort, the damned thing is about as hard to set up as vBulletin itself. Though you can configure it to use the vB login database, so folks can just drop straight in there.

Interesting, perhaps we should all agree to use one particular brand of instant messaging, that way, you can page other online users to pop into the chat room, when you see them connected to the BB via the front page.

Funny thing, I installed it yesterday on my server to take a look at the integration features. It's certainly more configurable than the current java chat.
You have to create a mySQL database from your f5 control panel first, call it something like thegenom_phpmychat, then set up user access to the dB for yourself, just like setting up vB (use the same username and password). You then have to create a folder in the root directory called phpmychat and install all the files into that - remember to upload images as binaries and php/script files as ascII, then run the install routine and follow the on screen prompts. I got it working fine in about 1 hour. I messed around with the colours some and tried (feebly) to integrate it with vB, but I couldn't figure the paths - feeble attempt though. It is a very configurable chat proggy though, you can use smillies, each user can join the default chatroom or create a private one, etc.
OK, I'll have another go - If I can figure out the hacks, I can mail you the hacked scripts for speedy integration :)

It seems great minds think alike :) ....I was having a good old root around the vBulletin forums looking for as much info as possible....I am very wary of messing with a fully functioning forum!!! ....that reminds me, time for today's backup :)

Hehe - no worries man. That's the beauty of having a test forum :)
