well i usually do the oil on my own cars medic, I only run mobil 1, 5w-30 .. i took it to some jiffy lub onces and they wanted 50$, so I shelled it out and when i got home they didn't even put the right stuff in, they put the 3$ oil and screwed me.... its only about 20 bucks for me to do it myself, + 20 mins so I figure its worth it.

Me 2. Mobil 1 is the gun stuff! My push rod V8 loves it. No lifter noise when started cold.... I use a "toilet paper" ancilliary oil filter, tilters to 1 micron (versus 20 or so microns) and it keeps the oil clear for 12 months.... No shit!

12 month oil changes, oil testing comes back saying "Your oil is as new"...... Saves heaps and my engine has new oil all the time. Usually, oil deteriates from the time you change it....

Actually, oil does not deteriate so long as the carbon and water is removed.... I'll find the URL to the manufacturer of these filters.... BTW industry have known of these things for years, as have taxi drivers.....

Nice car Dave...I see you're into modded cars as well :D ...Let me bore you with my cars.

This started life as a bog standard Nova 1.0 that couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. I thought it needed "overclocking" so I started to modify. Everything is changed...Engine is a 2.0 16V from a Cavalier GSI wit K&N air filter, re-mapped ECU, 4 branch tubular exhaust manifold and straight through stainless steel exhaust. Power is 185BHP measured at a local rolling road. Suspension is AVO coilovers (£500 for the front dampers only!!). Brakes are Cav GSI callipers and Sierra Cosworth 285mm crossdrilled discs. The body mods are all fiberglass and the cars total weight with me in it is 760Kg (measured on the weigh bridge where my Father works). Bucket seats, 4 point harnesses, Astra LCD dash etc, etc, etc. This is one quick car - 13.6 sec quater mile @ 109mph, top speed is 148mph (hits rev limiter in top gear :D) and seriously embarasses so called supercars. This is my weekend toy.

Here is my everyday hack...a BWM 325i Sport, k&N air filter, re-mapped ECU and stainless exhaust. Lowered (lots) and 17" Khan RSR alloys. Rear wheel drive is cool :D

Dam U done all THAT I take my hat off to ya, yer I know just were your coming from on that, I would of loved to do all mine but alas I have some mates that own a Repair Shop so it wasn’t to bad – just took a long time for the body kit to come and than be fitted
The kit is a Rieger EVO2 the only one imported to the UK so-far but yer 50% fiberglass 50% galvanized so no problems with rust :D

Very professional job mate, as I can tell you are well pleased with how it turned out :D

I used to do all my own oil changes on my older cars when I still had them. Now that I have my 300Z, I do not trust myslef to do anything except wash, wax and vacuum it.

I tried once to do an oil change on it when I first bought it, but you have to be 2 foot tall and a contorsionist to get to the oil filter. From that day on, I just pay someone else to do that for me.

I own the 300ZX's little/younger sister a 100NX, color red with original rear spoiler. Bought it new in 1993, running since without glitches (knocks wood), still love it - esp. in its T-bar costume.
I owned a Volkswagen Golf diesel (!) before that, what a change that was! I also had an old Renault 4 and a Ruska Buggy (a Dutch brand with VW Beetle engine).
I loved all those cars I had. Sometimes I wish I hadn't sold them, but hey, life is expensive sometimes.

I had the same problem. I use to work on my older cars because I did not have a choice. Now I have a choice and I am tired of playing contorsionist.

I just worked on my daughters car, with her, and replaced the radiator. It reminded me why I don't do this anymore.
