Well, Ive decided to go with enlightenment as my linux shell this round. I have KDE also running if i should need it. So far no real problems at all, just have to fight the menu configuration files. Seeing as im going with a non-bigtime shell, i would like to know of a few good console apps. I am using Konsole from KDE right now, but if i unmerge KDE it will probably go with it. XTerm which comes with Enlightenment i kinda dont like, its a command line option for configuration? i rather to be able to do it through some sort of menu, though i could probably get over that. ATerm is the same, so whats the difference between them? Anyone here use enlightenment? I have a problem with the bashshells, they all say "bash 2.25 $" for the prompt, it kinda bothers me. they dont say that in KDE...Im thinking i will probably go with Galeon for my webbrowser...but then again konqueror is also having the file manager built into it...unless i go with Nautilus...which i thought was better for gnome anyway, it looks cleaner. arrf, so many decisions :P. Where is the monopolisitic power holding me back with only one brand of shity software?

well just to update....

SO far so good :). Nautilus is installed. I reccoment when not running it under gnome to use the "--no-desktop" options or you get a nice gnome desktop in a window...very not cool :P. Galeon is installed. Both are now working. Nautilus is proving a little difficult in terms of file associations. im not sure how to configure it correctly to open say a jpeg in gimp... so, thats on the to do list, tho not very high right now. I solved my terminal issue by using ETerm, apparently made for use with enlightenment. ;). I should be able to unmerge KDE soon :D! I am going to mess with wine and office soon. and nero also. I read that they have nero working through wine to write cds! So that will be a bonus for moving me off windows ;D

Why run Nero when there is X-CD-Roast, Gnome Toaster just to mention a few of the best?

I always used X-CD in the past, but Toaster is the default for RH8, and it's simpler and provides drag-n-drop....

Checkout Multi-gnome-terminal, absolutely the best terminal for Gnome (multi-tabbed). :D

never used nero dnar? its only the most featured cdwriter software around :) Writes any kind of cd you could need pretty much, VCD's even... which i like ;)

Now heres an interesting question for you... this is pissin me off.

I have an older computer with a newwer maxtor 20 gig hd in it. its got samba and NFS shares on it, for my workstation, samba for when im in windows, nfs for when im in linux, and its been up for 11 some days now... Just the other day i was on windows in my docs folder which is on this ext3 partition on this file server, and saved a file. good its all there, i use it often never a problem till today, i go on NFS after checking out the codeweavers crossover office, and i see, my documents folder is poof, no more there. I have lost every document i have writen in the last 2 years. whats up with that? i have also lost source code to projects i have created in either vb on windows, or c++, or whatever. I dont know what to do. :\ im guessing the data is gone and i cant recover it. im gonna miss them pictures of my GF :(. Any ideas?
