Hi guys, if you've followede the other chat thread, you'll know phil is considering a new chatroom that can be integrated into the board. It's hassle, but you guys are worth it - to see how the installation works and to play with the hacks, there is a test chatroom on my server here:

http://www.synobyte.com/phpmychat/chat/

Have a look at the features and let us know what you think.

Hi Chas - I saw you were registered, had to delete you though, cos i weas trying a hack that requires a blank user base to start. I don't know if we can sort vB integration, and I'm not sure it's worth it. I had to give up on the hack, just frazzed my brains trying to fathom all that php code.

It looks pretty tril, but it is a little slow. dnar noticed it especially, but it was slow for me as well.

I was considering phpmychat, but I am glad I have had the chance to play about with it first. I was also considering and IRC based chat room. There will be an easy Java client, but you will be able to access it from BitchX and Mirc etc if ppl feel they are more comfortable with a full blown client. Do you think this would work?

Definitely, I've deleted phpmychat - crap! Pretty like you say, but a dog to work with. The simple Java chat provided by f5 is better. However, a full IRC chat would be even better still :)

BTW, the phpmychat files are on the TGC server, do you want to play around or get rid?

Sure...it was nice to have a play just to see what is available. Just dump phpmychat. Thanks for setting it up anyway :)
