.\foldtrajlite -f protein -n native -df -rt -u t <------------and upload results?

if EXIST doupdate.txt goto doupdate

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, if I select the nonet version to run as a service, do I have to stop the service to upload results?

What about once I upload results? Do I need to run the normal version to D/L a new thingie (whatever DF calls the WU's), and then restart the service (nonet)?

Do you recomend nonetting? Do you nonet? Is it as common to nonet as with G@H?

I'm sorry to bug you, but I absolutley know nothing about DF. I know you're a good guy, and won't mind. *nudge, nudge* ;) ;)

I just went to set it up as nonet, and this is how it looks now:

:donename
if EXIST donename.dat del tmpfoldit.bat
if EXIST donename.dat del donename.dat

.\foldtrajlite -f protein -n native -qf -df -it -rt <----------

if EXIST doupdate.txt goto doupdate
goto end

also, this might sound very stupid...but, I've noticed it runs fully hidden.  how do I know if it's running, and how do I stop it? ;)

yes
yes
yes
yes (you need to stop it)
DF's thingie isn't there :) Df uses a program for the whole project (aprox 1 Month) and then they release a update with the new project.
I don't recommend nonetting for long periods, I only do it because i'm not connected to the internet all day/everytime.
I don't believe that nonetting in DF is as common as in G@H.

If I'm wrong correct me Guy's :D

Okay, I've got it running in normal mode, and as a service. I use always on ADSL, so I'll just run the version normally, until I figure this out better.

I just saw my name pop up on the team stats as number 37. My first target is Siggy. Is she active here?

!!!!! Hope It was a typo but => .\foldtrajlite -f protein -n native -qf -df -if -rt => not -it

You can use software but if I don't trust it I look at the Progress.txt file in the DF dir if it runs the number of "until next upload" will be changed after you closed and opened it again (leave some time between the action, 30sec or so)

IF you're running XP => Config => system management => services
Look for line "Distributed Folding Project Service" and then you can start or stop the program manualy, but it closes it self on windows shutdown automaticly (you also can see if it started :) )

Hope I helped a bit, I'm not a expert myself, so again if I'm wrong or if someone knows more then me  :D

Siggy only does G@H so she's not active :(

I don't know about the typo, but I deleted all of it and just left the:

.\foldtrajlite -f protein -n native -df -rt <--------that's good, right?

I checked the progress.txt and it says:

Building structure 1100
3900 until next upload
0 sets buffered

So, everything's okay?

ugh...so that means that erase-a-post time limit deal is still going, right?

Also I like the "Organization" field. I'll use that to taunt and tease. ;)

and here's (http://stats.zerothelement.com/cgi-bin/distributed-folding/render-users.pl?team=631) Dyyraths stats for us. With the nifty brackets to highlight exceptional progress.

Yep, it's nice to have you aboard, Louis. :)
May you catch the bug, and get drawn into buying a few extra systems to help out with folding, like I did.. *grin*

We still need a few million a day extra to gain our position back, and to keep ahead of those behind us - so every bit is very welcome. :)
Will have to see if I can add yet another system to test out hardware at work; while waiting for the influx of hordes of systems that my boss doesn't have time to deliver and setup.. (getting 2mil/day really felt nice for that week).

Hey mike, what's your user name on DF?

BennyRop

shhh.. it's a top secret; but Mike goes by the name of "Halo Jones" on our team - which means something like "Borg Master of my Company".. ;)

Hey Louis, have you looked at DFGUI? (http://gilchrist.ca/jeff/dfGUI/) It is a pretty neat tool. Just place the executable in the DF client dir. When you start DFGUI, you will see the below screen:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/phil.harling/images/dfgui2.gif

If you have the client installed as a service, DFGUI will monitor it. If you are running the client manually, you can use DFGUI as the front end to start, stop, upload etc. Just click the boxes to select the options you want (extra ram etc). The above image shows me using large buffers, extra RAM, quiet and hidden (the client box isn't visible). I find this gives the fastest possible crunching.

Oh...umm, okay then. Ignore anything I typed to you Mike...you're lucky....I just don't want to beat you in the stats yet. :p

Well, don't your hopes too high. ;) Everytime G@H made me feel that way...I had this little voice whispering in my ear that she would leave me if I wasted anymore money on these "stupid" DC projects. :(

Taiwanese women just don't care about sta.....err, I mean science. ;) :p :D

Just click the boxes to select the options you want (extra ram etc). He is a God, and we should all worship him. So....using DFGUI to montior ocassionally will be allright? It won't try to sieze control and stop the service. If it's not set up as a service, I'll have no control over it running during the daytime, when my better half uses the machine.

That is totally fine. DFGUI will monitor only if the client is installed as a service.
