Despite my weekly production being much higher than yours, it has taken about 3 weeks for me to pass you (mainly because I lost a whole weeks worth of crunching with crashed clients, which was during the drag race). And you have just dumped to jump above me, again.
I will, eventually, pass you for good, but unitl then... don't get too cocky.

Hi Rizzo, Love to see frendly taunting, but this should be posted in the Brag section.:)

As you can see we were both down for about a week. I won't be that easy to pass. Let the challenge begin :)
You'll have to produce about 1100 units a week to stomp me though :) :D

Well I did start after you, quite a lot after you as far as I can tell... and have managed to catch you so far.
I crunch about 30 genes a week at the moment, don't know what that is in units, but around 700 I think (was last week).

What do you mean, I just started last week ;)
I don't really know my weekly output, so we'll have to keep an eye on it for a week. :p

Ouch-a-rooney. You'll have to move on without me Ben, I'm afraid I can't keep up with that :( Have fun at the top.
I'll see you up there a little later :)

OK Rick... I've been looking at the data, and it is goign to be very close.
http://genome.lusers.net/util.php?gtype=2&id%5B%5D=29&id%5B%5D=28&x=8&y=16
If you look at the first part of the graph, up to 7/25 then your production is a one rate, then you miss a week, and then your production rate rises slightly.
If you can keep up this new level of production then it will be a very close race, but if it is just to do with you missing a week and the graph updating, then I will move away from you.
Only time will tell.

Hey Ben...
I've got a Video card, 6GB HD, NIC, CDROM and a few other parts :)
Just have to buy myself a mainboard and CPU, then I'll be back in the race. Just have to convince the wife my new firewall/fileserver/router is more important than food :)

Sorry about not noticing your rise to power :) I usually only look at the "combined stats" page by Dyyryath, so you've always been way ahead of us :)
That, or I couldn't figure out what the grey blur was that went zooming by :D

OK... an update.
If you look at this page:
http://genome.lusers.net/util.php?gtype=2&id%5B%5D=29&id%5B%5D=28&x=14&y=14
It is now clear that your production hasn't increased. And my wonderful staircase will eventually pass you for good :)
Even if you hadn't lost that week of production I would still have passed you, just a week or so later.

Just thought you'd like to know, I', going away for a long weekend. So I won't be able to do my regular Sunday dump.
I might dump on Tuesday when I get back, or I might wait until next Sunday and do a mega-dump.
If you do get ahead, don't let your hopes get too high.

I think I will dump next Sunday and see if I can get 1k jump (haven't checked for crashed clients yet though).

OK... I've had a change of heart. I am dumping 5 * 99aa today (from my machine), so that will be 29.45 * 5 ~ 150 units.
It won't close the gap compeltly, but it will go someway towards it.

If you ever want to pass me again, I'd suggest that you dump now Ben.

Shit, Rick. Nice big 340 unit dump today.
Hopefully it is a machine that has been -noneting for a while or I am in big trouble.
I still aim to dump this weekend, with about 14 days of crunching it should be a biggy; hopefully over 1,000 units. Although this may not be possible because I lost a day or so on one of my machines, and my own personal machine dumped Monday.

I've been considering getting a dedicated cruncher. I can get a 1.4Ghz Athlon for £200 (excluding monitor), so I might have to do that soon (if I can get some cash... I am broke at the moment).

24th August 2001, 06:58
I know what you mean Ben, I have a system (Or lack there of.) sitting on my living room floor, waiting to be finished. I have, CD, HD, case, sound, NIC, video Kybd, mouse, monitor. Ican get a free slot-1 mainboard, so I'm just waiting for a CPU and RAM.
I just bought the wife a new car, so no bucks for a while :(
I have access to a few computers to "borrow cycles from" though. It should help us get OCN and the Italians. I'm no-netting a couple GHz right now :)

I have a feeling I might lose this race, I need to get a big week, and keep it up.
I have added 200Mhz to my farm, but I doubt that will make that much difference.
I just hope I can keep up when you unleash 'Project X' or whatever it is called.
I could overclock all the 700's to 933... but that would make my brothers machine faster than mine, and we can't have that, can we...
Rizzo
25th August 2001, 19:56
I did my dump before I went out, and I have just checked my upload and it is only 500 woonits. hmmm... but I don't get home 'till Monday, so I can't see what went wrong.
Rizzo
27th August 2001, 17:15
Hmmmm - Just got home and checked the machines.
All are empty (except what they have done since Saturday). This is very annoying. What is also very annoying, is that my Dad turns his computer off every evening, whereas my Mum and brother leave them on 24/7.
Anyway, I hopefully have persuaded one of my friends to crunch for the team, and even better, crunch for me. He has a 1Ghz Athlon, which sometimes runs at 1.33 depending on how he feels. If I am lucky I can get him to add his sisters and parents machines to the mini-tank. That is another 1Ghz ish.
Which is nice, for me.
Rick_Deadly
27th August 2001, 17:41
Right on, I hope it works out for you. I'm afraid we may seperate a bit. I've got an additional 3GHz  running nonet now. I'm thinking of saving it up for when we're about to pass OCN?

At the place I work, we have about 1200 PC's only being used as office computers. Mostly Word, Excel and such. About 75% of them are PIII 933Mhz machines with 128MB RAM.
If only I could get my hands on 150-200 of them, I could give Pelligrini and Jodie a run for their money :) Ah... just dreaming, I wouldn't even want to sneakernet 100 PC's.
