Does anyone know how to get Win98 to network (peer to peer) with Win2000? Win98 tries to connect and then locks up. My Win2000 boxes can talk to each just fine. Any ideas?

I don't normally have any problems, but sometimes there are long delays in connecting from a 98 machine to another. I haven't a clue what the problem is either. Sometimes I can solve it by mapping the drive.

which protocol are you using? Win98 doesn't like TCP/IP (loses the connection for some reason) but works well with IPX & NETBEUI.

Mapping the drive should work and have it connect on reboot/startup.

My Win98SE runs TCP/IP like a champ. Maybe it changed between FE and SE. I do know that Win95 didn't run TCP/IP dependably, for sure.

1. Create an account on the win2k machine
2. Log on to the win98 machine with that account info
3. profit*three step programs always end in profit ;)

Not sure if it's needed... but i always assign all my machines to the same workgroup. HTH! :)

zhot nailed it, you need to have the win98 boxes log in and create accounts on the win2k box. I use the saem login for all my in-frequently boxes :D

You don't need a domain or anything special, the win98 computers just need to use the network login screen on boot-up
