What's the differance between all these... I recently decided to start crunching some more and can't decied which one I should be installing and running.

Currently running G@H 0.99

but am willing to switch to anything else.

'rumor" has it that .99 is phasing out, eventually. Bruce is the F@H god here. Most of the real science is taking place in F@H. We are team 131 and moving on up. I don't really have the full dish, but just wanted to take this opportunity to say Hi! to ya!

Folding@home, Please. More competition than all the other projects (except for seti of course)

The prob with seti is, that you could never catch the big dogs. I did G@H for the non-net feature. But now I use the Google Bar (http://toolbar.google.com/dc/), b/c it is the most stable and easy to manage. I really suggest this. It hides easy, and you don't have to worry about fam messin with it or getting annoyed by it.

If you rely on a modem, G@H, .99 is your only viable option. If you have full time connectivity, go with whatever sounds good. Personally, I'm switching everything I can over to F@H after I break 100K in G@H.

I think Folding@Home is the way to go IMHO... i reached all my goals in G@H some time ago... F@H presents a fresh challenge. Running client 3.24 text console... team 131 ... crunch on! :) :D

In theory, modems can autodial, so anybody can run FAH.

In actual practice, of course, your ability to properly set up your modem to allow FAH to have the internet whenever it wants is probably limited by (A) Your ISP, (B) your ability to configure several obscure settings which are different on every OS you might be running. It works for Vijay, so he isn't to receptive to suggestions otherwise. There are a lot of ISPs who insist on a custom dialer that prevents the features of the OS from working. YMMV.

The google bar works for me b/c I am online at least once a day. I can send or receive a unit then. Most ppl work about like this, so for a working computer I think there is no better option. :D

O, and google made it so you can select user names now... you don't have to use a reg hack. If you have joined a team already, your in!

It does work for me. I've got 21 genome clients at the office using a single dialup connection through Internet Connection Sharing on one of my servers. It is really nice not having to manually upload and download fresh units anymore. There's also 6 other people using the single connection too.
