Just in case you didn't see it, There is "likely", to be a new Protein tomorrow (April 1)
The new algorithm will remain in Beta.

from DF site:

03/27/2003

- We are rapidly approaching the 10 billion mark again so we will likely switch to a new protein again next Tuesday April 1. The beta testing of the new algorithm is coming along well. The program is extremely stable again and some features have been added as well to make it easier to use, and better recover from system crashes. We are presently testing different variations in the algorithm itself and after a few more tests should be ready to switch over to it. We are very excited by the preliminary results so far from our small group of beta testers and are anxious to see how it will extrapolate out to the larger group.

- Due to circumstances beyond our control, the protein change that was scheduled for today will not occur. We will continue to work on the current protein until further notice. Check back here frequently if concerned, or else just wait for your machine to detect the next update when it becomes available. Beta testing of teh new algorithm will proceed as normal.

I read on the news that yet another person died of SARS in Toronto. :( I wish the rest of the infected folks a speedy recovery.

FBK - beta 6 is slowly getting down into the sub 6's. Come back and see if you can beat your lowest score from last beta 5.. :)

It's just one of my Athlon axp 1800+s and an Athlon 600Mhz system. My 7.08A score isn't going to get me into the top 10 any time soon - but it's encouraging to see one computer do better in a few days than thousands of computers over 4 weeks. :) Hopefully one of us will get down into the sub 4A range this week..

Beta 7 is out.. so we can see how well it works in comparison to previous Betas. :)

which means it's time to go to work and update those two systems.. :)

BennyRop thanks for the info.

After your post I got one beta running and i'll set another off,
after the FAH 542 gromacs is done.

Heck, its at 90% now. Hate to stop it there.

waiting would have been a good idea.. the first beta package was handed out with the current 157 structure val file.. not the 96 structure val file.
Now to see how it does. :)

Mine blew up to.

Why do some have 50 current protein and 1000's total.
Where does that total come from? Is it Beta 6 turned in under beta 7?

I know it's beta and don't count. Just curious.

I stopped mine and they uploaded all their remaining stored structures. (I have one machine that alternates between uploading and the next try can't upload) So I ended up with a score just under 10k, but with a RMSD of 100.
It's weird behavior..
