Okey dokey, i wanna put a 120mm fan in the front of me inWin Q500n, but I'm too lazy to take everything out of the case, and there is no way i'm cutting metal witht he components still in the case.

Hrmmm, 120mm fan = quiet with lotsa airflow (or same airflow, at lower speed)

80mm fan = very little air and loud

Loud baaaaad, extra air and quiet goooooood.

Taking stuff out of case = work
work = baad right now

Is extra quiet and cool worth werk.............................

Hmm 2 points for making the hole, 1 point fer not...........................

To complexicated.

Get off yer rear and start cuttin'
If the temps are high, that would be another point "for" as well.

Well, erm, they aren't that high, but I'm getting like 10cfm from a 28cfm fan! The shroud doesn't line up with the hole (stock), and it ends up sucking air from the case and recirculates it back in. I am gonna add that 120mm, its just when i feel like gutting my case out :)

Hmmm, room temp is 95.5F and case temp is 101.3

I think the 120mm will help quiet things down a little more.
I can post some pics of before and after if ya'll want (small this time)

I've got 2 120's in the side of my case in a push/pull configuration. I have it set where I can run it from a 12V lead (louder) or an external universal power supply so I can change the voltage to quiet things down. Temps are the same whether I run the fans, or just leave the side of the case off. Not sure if it was worth the effort or not.

But come to think of it, I have the fans wired in a series. Doesn't that halve the voltage? No wonder they're so quiet! :)

Ok, i modded it, its seems much quieter even at 12v. I haven't had a chace to put all the side and fron back on it :eek:

Not bad for a Laboratory Technician, only took me 9 months to realise it! ;) I guess I have yet another project to tackle this weekend. :)
