I've had some very slow add-ons myself. It went thru 4 updates before it made it. Got paranoid before it updated and checked the configs just in case.

Ouchies......I would be upset if I lost WUs. But I send them in pretty slow. I guess the trickle method is best.:D

cruddy cable, AT&T or roadrunner or mediaone, depends on who ya talk to .
They kept getting merged or bought until its now supposed to be AT&T but its not, you call mediiaone for tech support etc

I have not heard of Roadrunner. I work for AT&T but not on the Broadband side of the house. I think I remember hearing about MediaOne being brought into the fold at AT&T. But we usually leave existing stuff in place, until it can be brought up to par. So it is probably MediaOne that you need to deal with.
just my opinion...

No offense, but "up to par?"
The service got worse after AT&T bought em...... When you call mediapne tech support, you get an AT&T or a roadrunner tech tech and when they need to come out, they send an AT&T truck.
Last week, there were 2 trucks (each with one tech) at my neighbors house for 3 hours, most of the time they send 1 truck and it takes 45 minutes. After 3 hours, they started looking at the lines. I called up my neighbor and he said " i don't think they know whats wrong, they powercycled my modem 20 times and then the brought in a new modem and it still was having trouble. Now they are gonna look at the lines. Gee this service go bad after AT&T took over"
Nothin against AT&T phone service but I dislike Time Warner and AT&T cable internet service.
Get this too, they blcoked up port 80 on everyy single computer on their netwrk. None of the others, just for code red. After it came out.... Like a week after it came out. Its still blocked. I get code red shit (pardon me language) on other ports too. It increases on the other ports when port 80 was closed. I had port 80 blocked on my router too, i routed it to a nonexistant addy on my lan......
One time i called (my dad usually does) for tech support. Called AT&T number, cuz the mediaone number didn't werk anymore. They couldn't find me as a customer. they told me to call Cox Cable MICHIGAN, i live in ohio. The cox cable dude almost cussed out the AT&T peeps. it was funny except I had been on the phone for 30 minutes now. The cox cable dude told me to call mediaone, which i did, and got put on hold for 15 minutes. i finally get through and they say "welcome to AT&T tech support" then she started talking about mediaone stuff. Very confusing. I get through and the tech says "powercycle your modem a few times" i said i do that and it still doesn't werk, and he says just powercycle it when it doesn't werk right. "thank you for calling media, AT&, aww dang, MEDIAONE tech support"
Why doesn't AT&T just take them over? it seems to me like they are trying to make them suffer and then close. Or it seems like mediaone is still a seperate company, but AT&T is forcing them to do thigns they can't or don't want to do.
"But we usually leave existing stuff in place, until it can be brought up to par"
again no offense, but why did the service quality decline sharply after AT&T took over? Why wasn't mediaone "up to par"? Maybe AT&Ts quality of service is lower than what mediaone's service used to be.
What do ya do at AT&T? Just curoius.

Have you checked to make sure each client has a unique id.dat?
Stanford does discard duplicates. If they all check out fine, contact Stephan on the Yahoo board and he'll check into it for you.

I work on a large Corp acct. making sure their calls route properly. And I am sure you have heard announcements "Thank you for calling..........For this department press 1......" I order them for my customer. I don't record them, but I send the orders to the studio, and once they are recorded I make sure they route correctly when some one "presses 1" and so on.

The improbability of loosing 5 in one session is too high to believe. It would have to be a very slow update -- which does happen -- or some kind of a server problem that Stefan needs to investigate.

I'd check with Stefan in any case. Duplicate genes do occur occasionally, but they are rather improbable unless you're on the old version of the client where seeds were incremental rather than random.
------------
I'm still not convinced that a duplicate id.dat has anything whatsoever to do with a duplicate gene. It certainly can't hurt to make sure you have different id.dat's -- which is the officially correct way do do things -- but I've asked in several fora for anybody to offer evidence or to explain how the id.dat is used -- except to provide data for the Stanford graph of how many CPUs or CPUs per person are part of the project.
The other reason for id.dat is to help prevent cheating. It stands to reason that you can't move a partially completed protein to a different machine without messing up csum.

Hmmm, my stats have dropped recently but I couldn't see a reason for it. All of my clients were running. I was convinced that my wu's were going missing. I decided to look deeper into the problem and I found my main 1575MHz T-Bird running -nonet  I have now just uploaded 14x56aa
