Got Mandrake 8.0 installed ok, just spent the last hour trying to figger out how to change the screen res, woohoo! Finally got it tho. Talk about setting up internet sharing easy, just told it the ip of the main machine and off it went, sweet!
Keep posting subjects like that and you'll have a friend for life...:D
Glad to hear your happy with Mandrake 8. I know a guy that had been battling with 7.2 and now 8.0 for over a year. Trying to get it together on a 100Mhz Pentium with old hardware...... He is a walking bad-ad for Linux, everyone he talks to is put off, grrrr!

Hi Dnar,
I said That I was going to use Redhad, But it has to wait .
I was plannig to download it but's to big (I will go over my limit :( )
so I have to wait Until i can get hold of a ver. on cd (s).
When I have one, i'm planning to put it first, for trying on a P200@225 (64 or 192mb ram 2.1gb hd awe32 soundblaster cirrus vgacard nic card) is this a good decision or ?????

Too big is an understatement. It's a 2 CD distro these days. If your going solo Linux on that system, should be Ok. 192Mb RAM will be heaps. 64 is a bit light on if you want to run X-Windows.
Why not try Peanut, Vector Linux or any of the other light distros?
Peanut (http://www.ibiblio.org/peanut/)
Ibiblio Linux Archive (http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/)
Why wait for the CDs?

Windows can be run by anyone, but Linux requires real intelligence ;)

Wow.. Look at Siggy raking out the old threads. This one is from like forever ago..
Speaking of Linux though. I will be installing *ix on the new computer. Just am not quite sure what version of what flavor of what operating system it is going to be.

The merger started on 7-7-01, some of these old Linux threads bring back some pleasant memories :)
