I went from RH8 to RH9 and found my FAH client not fetching WU.
I had to switch clients from Linux Console 3.24 to Linux ConsoleB 3.24. I was unaware of this. The client will return " Kill " after trying to fetch a WU.

The explanation from http://folding.stanford.edu/linux.html#whichClient

Which of the two available Linux downloads is right for you:
Quick answer:
If you have glibc2.3 (as in Mandrake 9.1), go with "Linux Console B." Otherwise, use the preexisting "Linux Console." If you are unsure of what glibc your distribution of Linux has, you can find out by looking at the version shown in the name of the file /lib/libc-[version].so or by running /lib/libc-XXX (the path may involve some variant of /lib on your system).

Longer explanation:
Due to changes in certain new distributions of Linux, we now provide two editions of the Linux console. Functionally, they are identical, but they have different compatibilities. We continue to provide unchanged the same edition we have been and if you have been using this without incident, continue with it. The new second one ("Linux Console B") is intended for machines which have glibc2.3. In practice, this usually means machines running new distributions like Mandrake 9.1. If you run the traditional "Linux Console" on such a distribution, you will encounter trouble getting work assignments, and if you try running the "Linux Console B" on machines with older versions of glibc, the program likely will not even start.

To launch: To use this program, make sure that you can execute it (chmod +x FAH3Console-Linux.exe) and then run it ./FAH3Console-Linux.exe
