It sure is, but it seems silly to me to release these boards using the old socket format. I would have thought that they would wait until the format change which is due pretty soon.

I see your point Phil, but...

Anyone familiar with MB's should know that the 1st retail revision of any board is basically a public beta. It's not too difficult to just change the socket/BIOS on the MB, but designing a completely new board is a horse of a different color.

So if you look at it like that, VIA is beta testing their chipset with the P4. When the time comes, and the new socket is released, we should have a stable and solid performer on our hands.
