I'm sorely tempted to head down this road. If I could just find 6 matching PPro 200s with the 1Meg cache. That would be something...

Try http://www.compgeeks.com/products.asp?cat=CPU

You'll still need to get the Tri-cpu cards, VRMs, memory card, serial card, the proper simms or dimms, HSFs, and the rackmount board.

wbierman,
If you are seriously considering a 6x6 I've got some other leads on parts and such.

The guy's that have the rack case up on eBay do tend to have their stuff overpriced, I haven't seen too many of their auctions where the reserve was met.

The PII overdrives are getting cheaper too. I found a good source that has them for $49 sometimes with free shipping too. Those chips are only 512k cache, but are running at 333mhz and have MMX.

Thanks for all the help. I've seen lots of the parts but not many cases. With these types of decisions, I tend to gravatate towards the "most bang for the buck." The ALR 6x6 would be very cool to have but I'm thinking more now towards purchasing 6 AMD 1.4 T-birds. Their price has dropped dramaticly this past week. Almost a price war between all the dealers. Or, AMD is getting ready to intoduce new product. Which ever it is... I like it!

Since you have at least one of these... what is the v0.99 benchmark for a 99aa WU per CPU?

If you're looking for the "most bang for the buck" the ALR route sure isn't it. Those 6x6's are much like having a big power boat, a fun place to spend a whole lot of money. I'd really hate to add up how much I've spent on the things. I think all the flashing lights are hypnotizing (sp?) me. My office does have a nice green hue when the lights are out :D

I'm really considering taking the AMD road for my next purchase, especially with the really low prices. I've been sticking with Intel because I really like the part interchangability. That's some of the reason for all my P-Pro junk, very swapable.

I'll take a look at some of my .gah files when I get home to check out some of the times. Generally the overdrives take 20-22 hrs for the higher-mid size genes, been a while since I've really looked at the times.
