Does the genome client run faster or slower on linux..?
The reason I'm asking is that the genomeathome discussion group on yahoo has a question about the "run time penalty" under linux, and the answer was 15%. I just figured that client was about the same since most of the time is spent in CPU..

Ok without the GUI running and without much of anythig else running, linux is approx 20% faster than windows.
With all the stuff runnin, it can be slightly faster or the same, never less (of course) :D

I did see that posting on Yahoo, dont beleive everything you read.....
All being equal, the Linux client is slightly faster than the Windows client... I have heard reports of Linux clients running faster when re-niced and at runlevel 1 or 3, my testing does not support these claims... You are more than welcome to perform your own tests and post the results here.
BTW, I simultaneously tested the 0.98 and 0.99 clients on Linux with identical work units, absolutely no difference in performance. Not one. second.
