The static verision will always work. It contains all the library code. It is just larger.

The glibc dynamic version SHOULD work. Give it a go. The current RedHat glibc is 2.2.

Sup, tech Support dude is here!

Try usin netscape for chat, it supports Java

I don't use KDE, it just seems "wrong" to me, some peeps like it

You need to be a super user or root to install stuff, there is no uncompress and rum. You need either a RPM file and install that (very easy) or get a tz or tar file and then compile it (very hard)

If you are going to compile, make sure you have gcc, make, and some other stuff, dnar help me here

to uncompress a tgz or tar or tz, type "man gzip" and "man tar" at the console

Whatever file manager KDE has, it might support direct uncompression, try double clicking (or whatever) on the tar file and see what happens.

LOL! My sediments exactly! I do recommend new starts try KDE though, it drives like MicroSummin and they feel more at home, whick all helps to get them comfy.

To me, KDE looks cartoonish.

straight over my head...

i think, for my non-techy brains sake, i will have to stick to the straight forward windows OS for now.

i'll get into dealing with other stuff one day.
my priorities just arent in my computer right now.

Nooooo! You must learn! Do not take the path of the grey side!

Actually, it took me 2 years to figure out some stuff, cuz no one helped me. Dnar here has propelled me to the point where I can actually figure stuff out :)

Start with somethin' simple, like figure how to set up your network to ping other machines, no filesharing, just pingin'.

Next I figured that out, I though "Hmmm, filesharing gooood, napster baaaaad.... Morpheus goood" and though of me mp3s sittin there

i began to mount me wind*ws drives adn still wanted to share them. them the almighty gnome gnomes whspered SAMBA into me fingers so i found www.samba.org and proceeded to find out redhat already had it installed, but it was bottched somehow. It took me like a month to figure out i would have a better time installin' a newer version. Found and RPM and BAM! i wersk dandily with Webmin (dnar poked me towards webmin)

No womens clothin, just a penguin hat :)

Shubles, if linux is not comfortable for you or overly hard, we really don't mind if you use windows. its OK, it took me a long time to get the hang of.
