Firewalls

Just wondering which is the preferred choice of firewall type software used on home pcs. I use Norton Internet Security but find with a home network it can be a bugger sometimes. Seems every second update resets my configuration and requires me to go back and manually allow each workstation access again...anyone use and/or recommend any others?

Zonealarm is pretty good. Did I mention its free.:D But Right now I use atguard still. It has been a pretty good firewall.

I used zonealarm until I bought a hardware firewall. I still start it up occasionally for old-times sake.

I like NAV and a few of the utilities, but have heard mixed reports on Norton Internet Security and it is certainly overpriced and overhyped.

I have tried the following PC firewalls

Tiny Firewall
Sygate Firewall
Norton Internet Security
ZoneAlarm (free version)
ZoneAlarm Pro

I found them all to be pretty much similiar in their firewall abilities. At one stage I was running 3 simultaneously to do a comparison.

I put it down to which interface you prefer working with.
I founf sygate probably the simplest to use (purely a personal prefrence)

I am currently using ZoneAlarm Pro

We're a ZA family. It keeps everything out except the roaches and Laura's mother.

Two hardware firewalls (was given one), three software (not all the same time), 3 virus scanners, 2 trojan scanners…….paranoid….me…..nooooo!!!!!!:eek: :eek:

I was using Norton's until a few days ago. I had ZA on one other box, and just put it on my main one also. Seems to be easier & less intrusive than Nortons.
