Been following developments for a while and awaiting this release...
Netraverse has been bought out? How does this affect upgrades? Is a new purchase required?

You should have received a discount offer email (as a legit owner of Win4Lin). If not, let me know, I'll forward my email.
Good to see you BTW!!!! Bloody hell!

Guys VMWare is the way to go. WinXP works out of the box.
TRy it, you'll love it.

Yes, but VMware requires a lot of resources! I do prefer the tamed aproach of Win4Lin, performance is much better with the bottom end of Windows replaced by Linux/Win4Lin.
Each to their own I guess. What ever works for you. I like the fact that Win4Lin Pro lets you run Windows apps in a Linux window with no OS desktop. Thats cool (more like Wine).

Dude, the Linux forum is the most active lately... maybe we should rename ourselves The Linux Collective?
Funny cuz for me I like the idea of the full winblows OS sessions "saved or paused" ready to be resumed. And in full screen it really looks nice. Like you said, whatever works!

ugh - clunky or what?
extremely buggy and Id have to say qualifies as a beta release.
I can see it shows so much promise but was perhaps rushed out.
Still no joy networking, and seems to be slowing the whole system down. Also miss the excellent little configuration utility of W4L9x..

Give VMware a try. You'll be impressed. VMWare 5 is on demo, so it's cheap for the time being.

Are you able to tell me how well it handles networking, printing, and mapping to linux dirs on servers?
Thankee. W4L is unfortunately not an option in its present state. :(

No, I have not had a spare moment to even scratch myself. Worked 65 hours this week, yesterday was a right off after I fixed the leaking radiator hose, had my hair cut, bought the missus a 16th Anniversary pressy, I crashed at 2pm for 5 hours. Last night was messy, a couple of good Red's bit the dust followed by me. I am just bloody tired all the time at the moment, need a holiday. I'm thinking of flying to Mackay on Friday for a week of slobbing by the pool with cocktails in hand, that or maybe Broome. I have not started spending my payout yet, but am itching to do so.

Networking: out of the box
Printing: out of the box
File sharing: Set up Samba and you'll be rocking (didn't use it myself though)
Basically, your Windows install is accessing your devices through Linux as a channel.

yup - back on topic...
does the windows install link to a directory of information on a non windows server? Thats my main criteria.
data located on pootie running linux
workstations running various distros but need to get data (using windows programs) off aforementioned server machine.
samba not an option - causes data probs.

I was about to reply "yes if data server is configured as samba server"...
Hum, dunno, didn't try it any other way. You'll have to look around the www for answers.
