It looks like we will have a strong vote in favour of a re-badged a.c.h.o account. What name would you like for your new team? Nothing written in stone, just want to get some feeling of what folks want. We can have a real vote later, when we are more sure of things. Please, all interested parties and invited to discuss or vote.
In light of [H]ards recent acheivments, I think we should definately name the new team [S]oft.
Maximum humiliation factor when we pass them :D
Is The_Genome_Collective still available if you do decide to re-badge? This would be my first choice!
I'm easy, will go along with most any name, so long as it is not some long drawn out, hard to pronounce/remember name.
Maybe [S]quishy?

Sorry, that should read The_Collective. Medic 193 holds that and it's a dead account, we could sort it - hang on, I'll edit the options.
In memory of the Guys that made me laugh while I was growing up (Python):
And_Now_For_Something_Completely_Different
Can I vote Florida style.
Any of the above.
The name doesn`t matter to me.
JUST KEEP CRUNCHING.

The_Collective is fine too!

I'm partial to "The_Collective" or "The_Genome_Collective". The name itself says we have come together for the cause. Recognition of the old teams could be made on the new home page: Members of alt_comp_hardware_overclocking, SkzDaLimit_Distributed_Computing, TeamPCCritix (etc.) have come together to form "The Collective". An awesome crunching force dedicated to Stanford U's Genome@Home distributed computing project.
If, in the end, the other teams insist that there be recognition of their names in the new team name, i guess i can live with that.

I agree completely. We should also consider that there may be one or two smaller teams considering joining. A short "catch all" name should mean it's more inviting to them too.
PS, don't ya love this BB?

It is a great BB, have used one like it at OcUK! Will be interested to see what avatars will be available, wondering if phil will allow custom ones if members send him an email with of avatar in the right format? (of course one may have to pave the way alittle, send beer too!)

He briefly mentioned avatars. I think he's got a ton of em lined up for the short term, but there's a lot to do. We need to re-design the BB for the new team and he's gonna be pretty occupied with that for a while. So I think it's a possibility eventually, but we need to get the framework in place first. ;)

So is The_Genome_Collective name out? I would consider this since TOP already has the domain name registered. Otherwise I don't much mind what we name the team.

Agreed, getting the team website, stats and BB up is the priority, did not mean to jump the gun.
Looks like everything is moving ahead at a good pace and in the right direction. It is awesome to think what as been accomplished in a short period of time.
Tril, has anyone attempted changing a team name, is it possible without losing the teams stats? Just cannot seem to remember if it was tested.

There will likely be a lot of folks still crunching for that team after the merger. Some Picard members are crunching for it now and SDL is running a vote on who would like to continue.
While the team has active members, the name is theirs! Phil *could* do what you suggest, but I very much doubt that he would. On the other hand, The_Collective is a redundat team.

I see still some merge pains going on some of the other boards. I read about the zero bit. I for one would not mind making a new name. (Stilgartgc) or something simular to start out my wu's in a renamed group. I also see Picard is looking at it again. Man you just can't leave the boards without everything changing fast.
Has anyone considered that a new team name should be decided with input from all members, regardless of their origin? ACHO, SDL, PCC, (TP even).
I just hope everyone has a fair chance to make there suggestion.
BTW. Is anyone getting any sleep with the past weeks excitement? I headed off to work this morning with 2 hours sleep under my belt!
I prefer The_Genome_Collective or the The_Collective as it's been proposed. Any combination of ACHO/SDL/PCCX would make it seem as though it was a team only open to those from the three original teams. I think going with a completely new name would allow fresh blood to join and make the group itself more dynamic.
Are we still having an issue with folks preferring to join the TGC team already in progress? I'd hate to think we are this close to a rebadge of ACHO and have some people still wanting to start everyone at 0. Not to say it would really be a problem, but I would like anyone who's making a change from our three teams be sure that they are happy with the final decision and move with everyone else to the new team. (Sorry if this blurb is OT :))

Some good points there Hemi. Reading the other team boards has me worried, we may well rebadge ACHO and find it all for no gain, if it does not actually succeed in drawing the number of members it will need to acheive the overall goal. I must admit, given all the possible outcomes, I am actually leaning more towards a total fresh start with a new team number......... After all, my *want* to keep my existing units is not as important as the need for the new vernture to succeed.
It would be a sad loss if we rebadge ACHO and acheive nothing. Well, I guess we would have the new board..... But baybe that's all.
Tril, is it too late for me to change my vote? I'm still not fully around on the idea, but I'm warming to it the more I think about it.....

I agree completely, but The_acho_SDL_PCC_Collective is a temporary (rather silly) name, untill all the teams can get in here and have a good old chin about it. Then, in a day or teo, we can re-badge properly. Who know, maybe all from TGC will come over, maybe not - we shall see :)

I'm sure it will be worked out.

I agree with my counterpart hemi on this one. The current name is just entirely to clunky and we may be limiting ourselves to members of just those 3 groups. I prefer the Collective since that was the idea that was originally presented to us and has a nicer ring to it. Either way I am making a fresh start of it so that is really not an issue for me the more I think about it. I am already changing over my comps to the rebadged ACHO team number. Lets give the big guys a run for their money now!!

If you guys like, and for a little fun, I can change the temporary name to "insertnewnamehere" - should raise a smile in the community - watdayathink?
Sounds fine with me....I sorta like it. (Flame shield up) :p

I like the "INSERTNEWNAMEHERE" for now too. I think we need to chew on it a little bit. I like the idea of having a name that does not list the team names. Cause then we can still have other teams join.

I would wait till all the dumping is finished. Renaming now would zero the team stats again. I really want to see how much collective dumping we can do!
Dustin: Really? I thought the team name had nothing to do with stats collection (which I assumed went by team account (number)).

It won't affect the stats collection, but we won't see our combined dumping effort.

All I'm saying is if you rename again now, we won't see our dumping, but the totals will be there.
Dustin means the graphs and stuff at noxordo will reset to zero. This is because a name change is the same as a new team to noxordo...it will have to collect the stats from scratch again. This happened when the name was changed the first time.

We've been going for a couple of days now, and we're getting to be known as the "nameless ones", perhaps a suggestion in itself.
However, we cant stamp an identity onto this team, untill we've named our battleship and broken a bottle on her bows ;)
So, I've started an official poll, the results will likely be the name of the team, if you want to continue discussing, feel free - just letting you guys know, that I've put it into forward gear, so we can let this community know exactly what is rocking it :)

I quite like the idea of INSERTNEWTEAMNAMEHERE as a title...
My thoughts...
And Now For Something Completly Different - this is my favourite, but people who are just joining the G@H programme wouldn't get it
[S]oft - Very funny, but perhaps we should only do this when we are passing [H]
The_Collective - I like this, no reason why this can't be a team name
Just my 2 cents.
