Hmmm, me new scoo has 4 puter rooms..... and we're a "country" school :D
each room has 20 + dells, i think they are new, they have black cases and some of the older rooms have white dells...... I saw the pallets come in after band camp.... Awesome delivery... a few pallets o dell boxes... me is thining "Hmmm, GENOME AWAY!" I might have to make buddies with the puter teacher or admin real fast :)
I'm new yet, so me is thinking how to sneak G@H in without getting myself in trouble :D I think they are networked, at least thats what it looks like from the halways (big arse bundle of cat running in ceiling, soon to have the panels put back in so ya can't see em......) I actually haven't been in the puter rooms yet.... cuz schoo ain't started till tuesday (tommorrow :()

Just for poos and giggles... AMherst is a city schoo and they have ICRAPS! i mean Imacs... and they only have 2 puter rooms :) and amherst is better than us? hmmm, schoos coring
Firelands 24
Amherst 26
I don't think 2 points makes that much of a difference :D plus amherst (Steele) has a bunch o peeps selling special stuff....... plus from talkin to me buddies, his first day was rough major hazing.... the schoo allows hazing.. cuz they don't have enough people to enforce anything!
Firelands is a small schoo.... and they have no tolereance fer hazing.... and they can actually enforce it :D
I hope ya know what "special stuff" is.....

You'd probably ought to get permission to install the client. There's no telling what might happen if you do it unauthorized. I'm sure the schools around here would press criminal charges.
I believe I know what you mean by "special stuff", but the real question is; do your folks know you go to the school for it? ;)
(and if they don't, how much is silence worth to you :D )

Wow, I wish I were so lucky. Checked out the local Hickschool, errrr Highschool today, and despite the middle school brimming with equipment including a coupla rackmount LAN servers, the high school has equipment that belongs on my workroom's east wall (I have 486s and old junked up hardware stacked nearly to the ceiling there, I'll hafta get a picture sometime)
I didn't even see any PCs in most of the classrooms... Oh, and my locker didn't work either.

Me locker sticks :D
Ok, my comp teacher is kinda stupid in this area, the admin does all the stuff for him and the teacher just kinda tells us "type this in" and "start word" or "i don't know why everybody's apps crashed"
I guess hes the same guy that teaches programming 1 and 2 (shudder)
I don't even know who the admin is.
I THINk the server runs linux !!!! If not, then its NT. i haven't actually found the server in the list of 40 comps on that workgroup yet, it may be in its own workgroup.
We were told the logins and passwds were case sensitive.... doesn't that mean its linux? or does NT do that too?

Passwords are case sensitive. IIRC, Userids, Filenames, and hostnames aren't. (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.)
In linux, they're all case sensitive.
