Just wondering are these the same gene or two simular ones?
beta2/pdb1xy2.38.spa
beta2/pdb1xy2.65.spa
In other words what does the .38 and .65 mean to the gene run?

Somewhere I read that it is "a slight variation of a standard protein".

As near as I can figure out, there are quite a number of relatively insignificant changes that can happen within the family of a single protein.
