2x Dead HD in 1 day!!! :(

DOH!!!
Two HD just went down, built the PC’s at the same time, got everything from the same place doh!! doh!! & he cant get me any replacements till next week (have to buy off him as I have a deal through his chain) so down two PC’s sorry guys!!!
That will teach me to go down town coz its too hot in here!!!

PS no backup either so I’ve lost everything DOH!!! DOH!!! DOH!!! DOH!!! :( :( :(

Thanx mate, I’ve been lucky so far i guess, something had to give sooner or later(& it has been bloody hot in here)........just wish it had been a bit later but hey that life!!!:rolleyes:

My HD didn't crash, but my computer did crash yesterday because of the HD... I started a HUGE download that I left running all night (6 Gig) and it filled my drive completely... :(

I downloaded all topographical maps of canada (both 1/250000 and 1/50000 plus a bunch of satellite pics that match exactly some 1/50000 maps) from a gov web site. I made a little worm that fetched about 40000 files for me...

It just filled my C:\ Partition completely, not a single byte left... I had to move it all to another 40G drive that was almost empty (why didn't I do it to that drive first ??? :D) and resumed the download...

Now I'm ready to plan my kayak trips anywhere in canada :)

What's great with cable modem is the huge potential for download...

At 300K/sec (the top speed I got with that modem was about 380K/s), it's possible to download about 25G in 24h.

Of course it's all about the connection of the server where you get the data, I had a steady 180K/s on this one. So this is around 12h to get the 6G data set.

I love cable for download but the 12K/s upload cap sux... If I had to upload all this, it would take a week :)
