Hello guys, thanks for the warm welcome. I come from SETI at Home. It was a much simpler project, and i understood what we were trying to do. Genome how ever is very distant to me. I see numbers and letters flip across the console and thats about all i get out of it. I completed one 30 sequence protien so far. It appears that it was 15.22 work units, can someone explain how thats possible? :) Back on SETI a work unit was start to finish of a data chunk. seems different here.

My CPU:

AMD Athlon Classic 900 MHZ
256 M Ram
30 G Disk

2 Fans on the processor 2 in the case (One pulling in cool air one pulling out the hot, or so is the idea)

It sits on the floor in my room, where my dog gets alot of hair in it.

One sequence takes about 16 minutes if nothing to processor heavy is going on.

I am studying to be a Software engineer. I currently know Java and VB(VB the best of them all).

Not sure what else, Im 20, Single ;) and enjoy playing around more than working. You will find me 9 of 10 times playing games over doing something I should be doing. But as my belief is, "As long as it gets done, I dont care eventualy" :)

My name is Dave! Nick, is Azzuron. Thats one i forgot. Well time to get to bed. Night folks and im lookin forward to helpin TGC get to #1.

Hey! Welcome to the team, Dave!

The dog hair is actually a performance booster- The doggy snout isn't. Or so I've found with the covers off of something like a dozen boxes and constantly yelling 'THOR! Get your nose out of that machine!" He's just trying to help, I'm sure. . .

20, single, soon-to-be-software engineer - Like older women? Gee, I need to get out more...

ANYWAY - WELCOME ABOARD!:D :D

While hiking the Fox Glacier in NewZealand, a kiwi told me how to tell if a male or female had peed in the ice.... The guys always write their name in the ice, the fems leave little arcs, coz they keep looking over each sholder to see if anyone is comming. :D :D :D

How well do you know VB. We had a member on our team that was creating a program for monitoring G@H called genoscan. Because of personal obligations he no longer has time to create it. The program worked great and I can't imagine that it would need to much more work. He said he would give the source code to anyone who knew VB and would like to continue the work on the program. Just a thought. Let me know if you would be interested.

I would team up with him if it's a more-than-one-person-effort.

I know VB *very* well, but my time is limited to a few hours a week right now...

I may need info from you ppl tho about what to look for to determine some of the things...cuz i dont know much about it.
Perhapse Jodie and i can finish it off.
