Some of you may have seen that I won some nice Swiftech stuff on ebay. This is what it used to look like:

That's a hideous old Samcheer server case, my Chevette heatercore, an Eheim 1250, an original LRWW with 1/2" ID Tygon tubing. In fact, I had replaced the motherboard with a second-hand DFI Nforce 3 and an Opteron 146 but never got round to taking a pic of it.

Now I recently built a system for one of my mates and I ended up with a spare Antec SLK3700BQE (http://www.antec.com/uk/productDetails.php?ProdID=00363#) case so I decided to move the system into the nice shiny new case.

Unfortunately, I really didn't think my ghetto water-cooling was going to fit so when I saw the Swiftech auction I bid and got it for a sweet price so put that into the case.

When I came to turn it on, the system wouldn't respond at all so I ordered a new motherboard which resolved that little problem but in the meantime my Tagan PSU had bit the dust so that had to go back for RMA

Anyways, the system is built and running off a spare PSU.

One thing I did was to replace the noisy ineffective NForce chipset heatsink and fan. With the original heatsink/fan, the reported chipset temps were in the mid/high 40s C. I removed it and this is what I found:

Any wonder so many motherboards fail? That was providing almost zero cooling!

Looks pretty cool, .....so to speak. ;)

Didn't look like that chipset cooler was put on very well.
