OK, this morning, in the chat, Dnar or Jodie gave me the command I needed for the .bin file of StarOffice.
I promptly forgot this and downloaded the instructions, which are for the CD version.
So, for the second time today, what do I do with a .bin file?

Do you need the method to write the file to a cdrw or do you need to extract the contents from the .bin?

Well unless there is two standards for .bin files, you could either use CDRWin to burn it, or I have a little app somewhere here that converts .bin files into .iso file for easy burning on CD, print the Jewel Case and brag !!!!
Just say the word, and it will be on it'S way to ya mail box mate !
Cheers !

Are you talking about the 80 + MB sofficexxx.bin file that you downloaded to install StarOffice? I don't think you have to extract it. It's been a while but I believe that you just have to make the file executable. So change into the directory the file is in, and type 'chmod +x sofficexxx.bin' (The file name is probably different I just put x's there 'cause I couldn't remember the whole file name)
Then from the command line again type './sofficexxx.bin' and the installer should launch for you and walk you through the instalation.
Hope this helps...

Funny, I'm sure you suggested somthing else actually... I must have been sleepy.
Ben, to make it executable: chmod u+x sofficexxx.bin (what ever the filename is).

chmod a+x [filename].bin
./filename.bin

Done all this, and it has worked. Although I have only now realised how low on disk space I am on my Linux partirion, I don't even have enough to do a full install; only just enough for a typical.
I think I might try and pickup a cheap 10Gb, or get a nice new 40Gb and ust the 20Gb just for Linux.
