I've got a new Dual 1.2 Palamino with Tyan Tiger motherboard.
I've not been able to keep the stupid thing up for more than 2 hrs. It dies constantly with Win2kP, and kernel panics with Linux.
It's not heat - it's running SUPER cool, probably the coolest thing in the computer lab - 24degC on both processors, 22deg C on the chipset heatsink.
It's version 1.02 of the Tyan mod to the Phoenix Server BIOS. It has 1 gig of certified ram. The ram runs fine on my 1.4s and 1.2s elsewhere. I've swapped out the ram and swapped out the processors.
It's running in a 4U rackmount case with 9 fans and the certified 460 watt power supply. It has a GeForce2 MX board in it, a NetGear 10/100 and little else. Both of those boards have been swapped out repeatedly.
I'm beginning to suspect the hard drive for no reason other than that it's there. I'll swap it out tonight.
Anyone have any experience with them yet, or am I the beta-test for Tyan? I might give up on it for tonight and get the P4-1.7 and a couple more 1.4's up first...
