Book Review
Well I just finished the second book of the Greatwinter series by Sean McMullen. I have to wait till July for the third and last book to come out in paperback. The first book was Souls In The Great Machine, the second The Miocene Arrow I finished last night. Apparently these books were released a few years ago by different names in Australia where the author is from. This is an excellent series. They take place 1600 years in the future on a very different planet Earth where the population is rediscovering technology. This story is about one revolutionary librarian who sees that mankind has very little time to get their act together, to gain the knowledge they will need to stop or prepare for a devastating ice age that the humans of our time had started in action. These were books I couldn’t put down. Shame on you Aussies for not sharing these books with us sooner.

I have to agree with Theresa on this book (or esle). No <jk>, it was a very good read and made me laugh out loud. If you are into sci-fi I recommend this book.

Theresa, if you liked those, you may also like the "Shannara" series by Terry Brooks, that is also set in the distant future after a calamity had destroyed civilization, but it is more of a fantasy story involving magic & elves, dwarves etc.

Thanks Lazzie, I usually don't read fantasy anymore, except I am currently reading the Chronicles of Narnia to my youngest daughter every night. She is really enjoying it so I will be reading The Hobbit to her next. After that maybe Lord Of The Rings. She has seen the movies but it's just not the same as reading it.

I agree, reading The Lord of the Rings is better than watching it. If you find yourself getting back into fantasy, you might like to try The Belgariad series by David Eddings - I found that very enjoyable.
If you like humourous fantasy, there's always the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett & The Myth Inc stories by Bob Asprin.
